Itinerary

Thursday 3/23/2017 – Departure for South America

Day 1 – Friday 3/24/2017 – Arrive Santiago, Chile

Arrive at Santiago Airport and head to Casablanca Valley

Visit Veramonte Family Vineyards in the Casablanca Valley, known for its award-winning whites and for pioneering new wave artisan reds.

Wine tasting – Emiliana Winery

Lunch – Casa Botha – A gem amongst the wineries

Continue on to the colorful port city of Valparaíso and maybe grab a ride on the funicular tramcar overlooking the sparkling bay below.

Free time to relax after the flight

Welcome cocktail hour and dinner. A first taste of local Chilean gourmet cuisine

Overnight at Sheraton Miramar Hotel (or similar) – 2 nights

Day 2 – Saturday – 3/25/2017 – Valparaíso, Chile – Aconcagua Valley

Head out to the Aconcagua Valley a region heavily influenced by French winemaking traditions. Sample the exquisite wines of Errázuriz before moving on to Von Siebenthal and San Esteban winery for an afternoon to remember.

Day 3 – Sunday– 3/26/2017 – Santa Cruz, Chile Colchagua Valley 

Check out of our hotel and start our journey south to Santa Cruz, Chile

Spend some free time in the afternoon perusing one of the most exhaustive and storied private collections of pre-Columbian art and artifacts in all of South America at the Museo de Colchagua or explore Santa Cruz

Overnight at Santa Cruz Hotel (or similar) – 2 nights

Day 4 – Monday – 3/27/2017 – Santa Cruz, Chile – Colchagua Valley 

For red wine lovers, a visit to the Colchagua Valley is a must. Sip Neyen de Apalta’s signature Boreaux-style blend, sit down for a lunch at Montes and admire the vertically stacked cellars and bottling plant of Casa Lapostolle.

Overnight at Santa Cruz Hotel (or similar)

Day 5 – Tuesday – 3/28/2017 – Travel Day – Santa Cruz , Chile to  Mendoza, Argentina

Breakfast at hotel and a leisurely start to the day

Return to Santiago to hop on board a flight across the Andes to Mendoza. Check in to your hotel and tour the small, provincial city before enjoying a leisurely evening in town.

Overnight – Park Hyatt Mendoza (or similar) – 4 nights

Day 6 – Wednesday – 3/29/2017 – Mendoza, Argentina – Luján de Cuyo area

Venture southward to a more traditional wine region, Lujan de Cuyo, home to many of the nation’s top wineries and finest Malbec. Visit a handful of wineries to get a sense of the prestige and innovation found in the area, including a private tasting at Luigi Bosca.

Day 7 – Thursday – 3/30/2017 – Argentina Wine Region – UCO Valley area

Today is all about the new frontier in Argentina winemaking, the spectacular, high-altitude Valle de Uco situated in the foothills of the snow-capped Andes. Visit the world famous Salentine Winery and try their wines, followed by tastings at the distinctive La Azul and Andeluna wineries.

Day 8 –    Friday 03/31/2017 – Mendoza, Argentina – Maipu wine area 

Lying south and slightly east of Mendoza City, Maipú—the province’s oldest wine region—  Visit Baron Philippe de Rothschild Bodegas CARO where we will see the cellars that were built between 1884 and 1895, which have been completely renovated, plus visit two other wineries before our farewell dinner.

Soak up one more free morning in “Argentina’s Napa Valley” before departing for the airport.

** There may be changes to some details of the program, e.g. which wineries we visit. As always on our wine tours we put a great emphasis on that the visit will be exceptional and memorable. We do not always visit the most well-known or “famous” wineries but instead those that will give you a unique experience.
